Konn 1-10

€180.00

Konn #1 is the first of ten. It is the only piece in the series that prioritizes the organic complexity of hardwood over high-gloss pigments. While the rest of the collection explores color theory, #1 explores texture and origin.

The Material Logic

  • Ash Wood Relief: Unlike the plywood construction of later pieces, the central frog in #1 is CNC milled from solid Ash. Ash was selected specifically for its prominent, athletic grain patterns. When milled into ripples, the wood grain creates a secondary topographic map that shifts as the viewer moves.

  • Structural Base: The Ash relief is inset into a high-grade plywood frame. This creates a deliberate contrast between the refined, wild grain of the Ash and the architectural, stable layers of the plywood base.

  • The "Burnt" Finish: To achieve the deep contrast seen in the grain, the wood has been manually finished with a dark stain or light charring technique. This isn't just a coating; it is a treatment designed to pull the "rings" of the tree into the foreground, mimicking the shadows of deep water.
