Ash Wood Relief: Unlike the plywood construction of later pieces, the central frog in #1 is CNC milled from solid Ash. Ash was selected specifically for its prominent, athletic grain patterns. When milled into ripples, the wood grain creates a secondary topographic map that shifts as the viewer moves.
Structural Base: The Ash relief is inset into a high-grade plywood frame. This creates a deliberate contrast between the refined, wild grain of the Ash and the architectural, stable layers of the plywood base.
